GDPR is transforming how businesses need to store and manage personal data and will replace current EU data legislation.
Many employers will have exclusively focused Privacy Notices in the context of their customers, rather than their employees. Under GDPR it is important that these notices are issued to all data subjects who an organisation handles personal data for, this will include employees and job applicants. The increased requirements of GDPR will mean that Privacy Notices need to contain more detailed information about how personal data is handled and processed.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation is the result of four years of work by the EU to bring data protection legislation into line, protecting and empowering EU citizens privacy. GDPR will supersede the Data Protection Act 1998. It will give individuals more control over how personal data is used. UK organisations will need to ensure they are compliant when the regulation comes in to force in May this year or could face hefty fines.
