If you regularly read our blogs you may have noticed a recurring theme, that businesses should be continuing as normal all be it remotely. Company culture should remain a focus, team members who are working from home should be shown appreciation, and their mental health considered. Just as businesses would if they were working face to face.

One of the ways that businesses can maintain their company culture and a millennial workforce is by offering learning and CPD opportunities. It’s undeniable that team members should be able to maintain their career roadmaps no matter where they are working. It’s also worth noting that 42% of millennials look for learning and development opportunities from potential employers. People in their 20s and 30s are your future workforce, so it makes sense to put measures in place to retain them. So, instead of putting learning and development to the back of your business’ priorities, you should consider embracing it.

Promoting and enhancing digital literacy

Online learning provides the ideal opportunity to promote and enhance digital literacy, particularly if you are considering continuing work from home policies once the pandemic is over. Encouraging team members to learn online means they will encounter online platforms that you may not use in your business and will improve their digital skills.

Digital trainers have adapted

Just like all companies over the last year, learning and development providers have had to adapt. As an example, Dakota Blue have adapted our Management Development Programme to make it fully online. By using interactive technology, we have ensured that participants can still participate in the valuable discussions that enhance their learning. Additionally, we have adapted the programme to incorporate frequent half day learning sessions, which reduce participant screen time and improve focus.

Training has suddenly become convenient and accessible

Because training has gone online, it’s become more convenient and accessible. The use of the internet means that training sessions are available anywhere, removing the need to travel to education spaces. Additionally, the provision of online resources has improved accessibility, enabling course materials and notes to be downloaded at the click of a button.

The improved accessibility of courses also provides the opportunity for participants to become a part of a wider networking community that they may not previously have been able to access.

Cost effective

The ability to download notes and participate online also makes CPD more cost effective as it reduces the need for print outs and travel costs. Also, with courses like ours being split into more screen friendly chunks, it means that team members aren’t away from ‘the office’ for whole days at a time.

If you’re concerned that you’ve maybe let learning and development fall by the wayside or you have team members who want to participate in online learning, Dakota Blue provide a number of different training options and can advise you on what would be the best fit for your team.
