What happened to those New Year resolutions?

According to research by BUPA, 66 per cent of people admit to breaking their new year resolutions before January has even drawn to a close. It might be skeptical, but it’s important to note here that the figure only represents those who were brave enough to admit it. It would be easy to argue that whether it’s weight loss, a new exercise regime, or kicking the cigarettes for good, it’s likely that many best intentions are forgotten about not long after the bells chime at midnight on the 1st January.

Assess your progress

Health and wellbeing are popular areas for improvement, but what about your business? If you run your own operations, then you probably set yourself some stretching targets for 2016. How are you currently measuring up? With the first quarter of the year already behind us, it’s sensible to take a step back and refocus.

Now’s a good time for an HR assessment. After all, savvy leaders recognise that achieving strategic objectives is impossible without a strong, motivated, and capable team.

Legislation

Of course, considering whether you’re compliant with legislative changes needs to be right at the top of your agenda. Every year sees new provisions and regulations, so make sure that you understand what’s required from your business, and that you’re staying on the right side of the law. Letting things slide here could cause you some serious problems. The last thing that you need is to find yourself facing legal action.
